Today’s question made me deviate from my normal cover art for these, but it was too dumb of a drawing not to!
“Yo Kev…you got any tattoos?”
Yo…no, I don’t!
To the surprise of many, mostly the people that used to see me at basement hardcore shows in my youth, I never committed. And that pretty much sums it up. My lack of commitment.
I talked A LOT of shit about getting a Blink 182 tattoo when I was in high school. To the point of embarrassment. But I realized pretty quickly that you can’t trust a band to stay on the same wavelength as you. And I didn’t want to end up with a permanent reminder that I thought it would be a good idea to document my love of bands who make dick and fart joke songs, but then got “serious.”
As I have just recently turned another year older, I don’t believe that I ever will. I claim to be the biggest fan of nothing and too many people and things have let me down over the years. *starts doing ’80s Bill Murray impression* Also, like…isn’t NOT getting a tattoo, the new getting a tattoo?
I applaud anyone who feels strongly enough about something to get it inked into their skin. I don’t think I would mind the pain. I have a pretty high pain threshold. Just ask me about the period of time where I was in a tremendous amount of eye pain for several months. And there are a few things that I think I have liked long enough and have a low enough risk factor of finding out something terrible about them, but at this point, it’s like…keep a good streak of not having to lift up any part of my shirt to show someone something who isn’t a doctor going.
I made a joke this morning that if I were to get a tattoo today it would be Gritty wearing Jason Voorhees’ mask. I created a version of it above to show you how awful/great that could be.
What was your first tattoo and why? Do you regret it? Should I still get one? How much money will you all pool together to make me get that Jason Gritty tattoo?
